The Wise family reunion will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Hank and Darla Wise’s Centennial Hunting Lodge, located in Coleman County on FM 503, between US Highways 67 and 153. For MapQuest users, the address is 2998 FM 503, Talpa, Texas 76882. The Lodge phone number is 325-636-4555.
The theme of the reunion will be “Celebrating our Irish Ancestry” (*Jiles Wesley Wise’s great, great, great grandfather was Bryan Boru O’Bannon, born in Tipperay, Ireland, in 1680 and died February 2, 1762, in Marshall, Fauquier County, Virginia.) Please dress in your best “Irish outfit” (at least wear green), and come and enjoy the festivities! Special prizes will be given for best Irish attire. Registration will begin at 10:00 AM followed by lunch at noon. Donations to cover lunch and other expenses are appreciated.
Overnight accommodations at the lodge are available on Friday night and/or Saturday night for those who wish to stay on-site. A $5 per person donation is requested to cover the cleaning and linen service. Beverages and bedtime snacks will be available Friday night, and a continental breakfast will be available on Saturday and Sunday mornings for those staying at the Lodge.
A special Wise Family Cookbook is being assembled and will be available for purchase at the reunion. We would like the cookbook to include family recipes handed down from Minnesota Wise and her family. We’re hoping to get approximately ten recipes from each of Minnesota’s children so that we will have around 100 recipes for the cookbook. So, gather together the tastiest, most special recipes you have from Minnesota Wise, her children, and grand children, to be included in the cookbook along with their photo, and send it to the email address wisereunion@gmail.com or mail to Barbara Steward, 21631 Park Wick Lane, Katy, Texas 77450. Please send recipes by April 1st to allow for time to publish the cookbook and include the number of cookbooks you and your family want to order.
